Knowledge exam at this counter

Petersburg lists in-car road skills, motorcycle skills, HAZMAT fingerprinting. It lists full-service E-ZPass as not available. Walk-in applicants for that exam must be present by 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and by 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, to test that day. That cutoff is on the knowledge exam page. It is not a shorter office day than the hours table above. Scoring is the same at every center: 10 road-sign questions, all correct, and 24 of 30 general-knowledge questions. Practice that split on the free practice test. A score here is not a DMV result. Under 18, the next knowledge exam waits 15 days. At 18 or older, you may test once per day. After three failures, DMV requires the classroom portion of a driver training school, finished after that third failure, before another attempt. That step is on the three-failure page. It is not the first-license rule that starts January 1, 2027. Ages 18, 19, and 20 who have never held a license then need both a 90-day learner’s permit and driver education. The checker, the 2027 rule, and the permit-date count separate those requirements from a same-day office visit. The office hub keeps the other centers and the DMV Select limit.
