VADrivingTest.com is an independent study site. Jamie Carter and the VADrivingTest.com Team write and edit the guides. Nobody on this site is a Virginia DMV examiner, a driving instructor, or a credentialed reviewer. We do not invent a staff of experts.

How a page or question is written

A guide starts from a question people actually ask, such as a retake rule or a parking distance. The draft uses plain language. It does not add a story about a pass rate, a quote from a student, or a fee the DMV page does not list.

Practice questions come from the site’s question bank. A question used in a study set should match a rule in the Virginia Driver’s Manual (DMV 39, April 2026 edition) or a current DMV page. The explanation says why the answer is right and names the source.

How facts are checked

Before a rule is published, we compare it with the current Virginia Driver’s Manual and the DMV page that covers that topic. The manual PDF used for this pass is DMV 39. Section 1 covers testing. Section 3 covers parking and other safe-driving rules. When a number also appears in the Code of Virginia, the page names the section.

If the manual and a DMV web page do not use the same words, the page says so. It does not flatten the two into one sentence. An example is the knowledge-exam wait for adults: the manual says the exam may be taken only once per business day, and the knowledge-exam page says applicants age 18 or older may test one time per day.

Each guide shows a last-updated date when the check is part of the page. The corrections log records later fixes that we can verify from this site’s own history.

Citations

A rule that tells you what to do should point at the manual, a DMV page, or the Code of Virginia. Links open the official source. We do not cite a practice-test label as if it were the statute.

Corrections

If a page is wrong, we correct the page and add a public note when the mistake is something we can document. The log does not include guesses. If we cannot verify an older change from the site’s history, we leave it out.

Please report a wrong distance, a wrong form number, or a broken citation on the contact page. Say which page and which sentence looks wrong. We read those notes and check them against the manual or the DMV page before we change the text.

Independence

VADrivingTest.com is not affiliated with the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles or any government agency. Passing a practice set on this site does not issue a permit or a license. The official exam and the road skills test are given by DMV or by a provider DMV authorizes.

Ads and the ad-free pass

Practice tests, topic sessions, the exam simulator, and Missed Questions Review are free. The site shows ads on those pages. An optional one-time $4.99 pass only turns the ads off. It is not a subscription, and it does not unlock a separate question bank.

Some pages link to Virginia DMV’s list of licensed driver training schools. If a page includes a commercial partner or affiliate link, it says so next to the link. A driver-improvement course is not described as the driver-education course required after three knowledge-exam failures.
