Knowledge exam format

October 8, 2026. Office pages, the permit guide, and the exam simulator still described a 35-question test scored at 30 out of 35 or 28 out of 35. Those pages now match the current exam: 10 road-sign questions, all of which must be correct, and 30 general-knowledge questions, of which 24 must be correct. The same update removed an unsupported “97% Pass Rate” claim and invented testimonials from the home page.

Recorded in git commit 019c00a. The current format is the one published by Virginia DMV on the knowledge exam page.

DMV office facts that were out of date on this site

October 8, 2026. The Fairfax page had listed one office at 4094 Jermantown Road, Fairfax, VA 22030, including a free-lot note and turn-by-turn directions. It now lists Fairfax/Braddock Road at 9855 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA 22032 and Fairfax/Westfields at 14950 Northridge Drive, Chantilly, VA 20151-3809, and no longer prints those parking directions. The Richmond office ZIP on this site changed from 23220 to 23269, and a separate Monday 8:30 a.m. opening was folded into Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Links to Henrico, Chesterfield, Petersburg, Falls Church, and Christiansburg were removed because those addresses on this site only redirect to another office page.

Recorded in git commit 019c00a. Confirm the current address and hours on the Virginia DMV website before you travel. These street addresses were not re-checked against DMV on October 12, 2026.

Turn-signal distance question

October 8, 2026. A practice question that said you must signal at least a single distance ahead of every turn was rewritten. It now asks: when the posted speed limit is more than 35 mph, you must signal a turn at least how far ahead. The explanation says at least 100 feet when the posted limit is more than 35 mph, and at least 50 feet when it is 35 mph or less.

Recorded in git commit 019c00a in the question bank. The Driver’s Manual is the authority for the signal distances. This log does not add a section number the bank entry did not have.
