Virginia CDL general knowledge practice test

Virginia DMV says every class A, B, and C applicant takes the general knowledge exam, and the questions come from the Virginia Commercial Driver’s Manual. You need at least 80 percent correct to pass. This site does not have those questions yet, so this page does not include a practice quiz.

What DMV publishes

  • DMV tells class A, B, and C applicants to study Section 2-1, Driving Safely, Section 3-1, Transporting Cargo Safely, and the Virginia Supplement.
  • The manual and the Virginia supplement are PDFs on the DMV manual page, and customer service centers also have copies.
  • Passing the knowledge exams comes before the CDL skills tests. DMV tells you which additional exams your class and endorsements require.

Roadmap

A general-knowledge practice set will be added only after each question is written from Section 2-1, Section 3-1, and the Virginia Supplement and cited to those sources. Questions from another state’s manual will not be copied here.
